The “ß EP” shook fans and critics when it came out – balancing hip hop, R&B and dance influences without dropping a beat. In effortless Baauer-fashion the lead single One Touch ft Rae Sremmurd and Alunageorge (2014) has continued to do damage on playlists and went on to inspire a number of electronic producers looking to cross over into pop. Harry was just doing him though: he’d met Aluna and Rae Sremm on the road and brought everyone together with the same control as a remixer. A few years later and everyone’s trying to sound like the ß ep.
The artwork was important too: a collaboration with acclaimed multi-media artist, Jonathan Zawada. The signature visual sees the helmet which Baauer stood on when he graced the cover of billboard; a feature from the first “Harlem Shake” viral – now dragged around the world from touring. With their striking colour backgrounds, Zawada’s sculptures have informed a number of imitators and playlist covers since their inception for us back in 2014.
