In memory of Paul Ryder, today @happymondaysofficial release a special version of ‘Tart Tart’ – backed with two unreleased versions of the track – a live version from Sheffield University in 1989 and a John Peel session from the same year. The John Peel version of ‘Tart Tart’ and the original will both be available to pre-order today as limited edition 7 inch. The cover features an iconic image of Paul and Shaun shot by Kevin Cummins for the cover of NME in November 1991.
All profits from the release will be donated to Music Cares, a charity chosen by Paul’s daughter Amelia. “Music Cares is a charity that helps people in the music industry who are struggling with addiction issues. 14 years ago, Paul was given help and support from the organization who helped fund extended outpatient care and therapy that enabled him to have 14 subsequent happy and productive years. Just two weeks ago he mentioned them in an interview and often expressed his gratitude and desire to pay their support forward so others could be helped too.”
