Spectral Cannon (Alternative Version) is an additional track, complimenting Tommy Perman’s re-imagining of Modern Studies last LP.

“While working on Emergent Slow Arcs – my secret musical deconstruction and reassembly of Modern Studies’ Welcome Strangers LP – I made numerous versions of each idea. Most were rejected as I am a very harsh critic of my own work. A year or so elapsed from the making of the record and this version of Spectral Cannon shimmered and thundered its way back into my memory. I listened back and thought it could be appreciated by other ears.

For the accompanying video I have remixed the visuals I made for the LP version. Yep, with me everything is a remix and everything is potential source material for making something new. I have tried to use video production techniques that mirror the sonic manipulations – so, here I have pulled apart the original video, heavily processed each strand and layered it all back together. ”

Perman (Random Audio Therapy Unit, Cybraphon) re-invents it as a series of modern electronic compositions, like Brian Eno, John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream’s offspring hanging out with Aphex Twin’s twin.
