lucky break shares playful video for “Pictures of Herself” out now. Cutting between a pink-filled bedroom and serene farmland, the video continues the story told throughout her debut album, made it! out now via Fire Records. Listen/order here: https://luckybreak.lnk.to/madeitID
Light-hearted and vibrant, the visual for “Pictures of Herself” finds lucky break in an all pink room and outside among animals and mountains. The musician shares, “Originally, I had an idea where all of the music videos, when played in order, told some kind of story. In my mind, this pink room is where lucky break wakes up after she crawls through the tunnel in ‘Crush.’
Directed by close friend and frequent collaborator Margaret Elle, the pair pulled from the artist’s influences like Liz Phair and Elliott Smith. Lucky break adds, “We were very inspired by Liz Phair’s music videos, as well as Elliott Smith’s ‘Rose Parade’ video–we reference this shot in the scene where i’m playing guitar with the two girls behind me.” The extras include lucky break’s little sister and Elle’s childhood best friend.
The debut project by lucky break began when the musician fell in love for the first time and moved abroad to teach English. After getting ghosted and getting sick, she was heartbroken and confined to her bedroom where eleven heartfelt tracks became her first proper collection of songs. Lucky break says, “‘made it!’ captures my life from 19 to 23 as I was going through major transitions, finding my inner compass and figuring out how to live in alignment with my values.”
