Ingo Swann is the dark electronic project out of Detroit — named after the famously government-contracted psychic — featuring former members of Pity Sex and Brave Bird. “Eternity” lives on 3 Poisons, the band’s sophomore record, where churning synths, guitar melodies that burrow in and refuse to leave, and Chris Liu’s cavernous baritone settle somewhere between gothic post-punk, EBM, and emotional pop. Building on the gothic foundation of their debut Hunger, the band pushes into colder, more immediate territory — deepened by Espinoza’s darkwave work in Shock Doctrine — without losing its emotional directness. Across seven tracks of open-ended meditations on self-discovery and suffering, 3 Poisons reveals itself slowly and rewards the patient listener.
