Today, we charge onwards through Superchunk’s storied catalog. Started by Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1989, Superchunk have released thirteen studio albums, four singles collections, and founded and operate their own resolutely independent label Merge Records.
Mac McCaughan and guitarist Jim Wilbur link up with co-hosts Tom Davies and Eric Osmon (Run For Cover Records, Lame-o Records) to discuss learning to pace their prolific output as a band while evolving their sound, putting on then-unknowns Rilo Kiley as tour openers, reuniting to record and play after a near-decade hiatus, and many more Superchunk’s experiences.
